One item that most people don't even own... but SHOULD, is a food scale, especially if you are trying to watch your weight.
Nutrition Labels Based on Weight
Did you know that weighing your food helps you know how much nutrition you are taking in? It also lets you know just how many calories and carbs you are taking in as well. Weighing the food gives you a lot more accurate of a calculation. Basing nutrition off of a measuring cup could be misleading. If you were looking at the amount of calories in a quarter cup of almonds, the broken pieces, gaps, etc can give you a false measurement which leads to a false measurement of calories. If you are taking the time to count calories, don't you want it to be accurate?!
Sticking to the Food Pyramid
Two servings of "this" and three servings of "that" just seems to be too difficult to figure out at times. Weighing your food will give you an easy, accurate way to make sure you are getting the appropriate percentages of each of the foods on the food pyramid.
Helps You Become an Expert
Eating out while trying to make sure you are following a healthy diet can flabbergast some. If you are using your food scale over and over again at home, you will eventually become an expert at judging the portions better when out to eat.

One of my favorite features is the unit button which converts between pounds, ounces, grams, fluid ounces, and milliliters. I was pretty good in math but converting measurements is something I still have to look up far too often! So, this feature is nice for me!
